Pastor's Comments

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Fr. Rudolph Profile Pic

For years, we have been dreaming of a church large enough to gather our family of Our Lady of Victory together. It has been a great challenge to reach that goal. Finally, in the last few years, that dream is becoming closer to reality.

Our architect, Carmine Carapella, has completed all the drawings and plans. We worked with many contractors who submitted bids. After reviewing all the bids, the building committee agreed on the best bid presented. We met with the contractors, revised all the plans and have reached an agreement of $1.5 million to complete the church. It is large enough to seat 250 people, with beautiful stained glass windows, a rose window over the altar and a majestic bell tower with a cross on top as the beacon of our faith. We are very excited that everything is in place to move forward with the construction. The only thing holding us back is financial support.

So far, approximately 30% of our active supporting families have contributed to the campaign to build our new and permanent house of worship. We now have at hand nearly $450,000.

Many have been so supportive through volunteer efforts, financial support, and most importantly, through prayer.

If you have not yet provided support, now is the time. Our goal is in sight. If you have contributed or have made a pledge, please consider adding to your commitment. We need to pull together to fulfill this great dream and to honor Our Lady of Victory. With her help and our unity, we will be victorious and offer our children a home where they can worship and honor God for many years.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Rodolph Wakim

Frequently Asked Questions

Our goal is to raise $1,500,000. We have so far $465,000 cash at hand.

Your support will help make it possible for our parish to achieve the long-time goal of building a new and permanent worship space and minimize the need for either short– or long-term financing.

We should each respond in a manner appropriate to our own financial capability. We are being asked to contribute according to our means and to pray about the amount of our pledge. We anticipate that this may be the largest gift many of us may ever make to a charitable organization.

That would be unusual in today’s society. Most people take advantage of time-payments for major purchases such as buying a home or a car. A pledge to this campaign can be considered a “time-payment plan” that makes it possible for us to meet our parish obligations without undue hardship. Pledges enable us to consider a more significant contribution to the campaign rather than a one-time gift.

We are asking every member or friend of Our Lady of Victory Church family to consider supporting this effort. If you have not yet made a pledge, we ask you to consider doing so now.

Pledges are made in good faith and accepted as such. If hardship or illness prevents you from fulfilling your pledge, let the parish know, and other arrangements will be made.

We ask that you make a pledge and remit regular payments until the time you move. No further obligation is expected after you have moved, but please contact the Parish Office.

Please make your check payable to Our Lady of Victory Church Building Fund.

We suggest a 10% down payment when the pledge is made, but this is not required. You may give less, give more, or make no down payment at all. The important step is to make the pledge.

Stocks and Bonds

There are added advantages to giving stocks, bonds, and securities. You not only take credit for a charitable gift at its present value but, if held for more than a year, you are also exempt from paying tax on the profit realized from the original investment. For additional information on these types of gifts, please contact your tax accountant.

Wills and Bequests

Providing for Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church in your will can have significant federal and estate tax advantages. For additional information, please contact the Parish Office at (412) 278-0841.

Matching Gift Programs

Please ask the Human Resources Department at your place of work if they have a program to match your donation. Both current and retired employees may be eligible.

IRA Contributions

Naming Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church as a primary contingent beneficiary of a retirement plan, such as an IRA or 401K, can benefit both the parish and your estate. Your retirement account’s plan administrator can help you designate Our Lady of Victory as a beneficiary. Again, it is recommended to consult your financial advisor.

Pledge Payments

You will receive reminder notices in accordance with the payment method you select. Please make your checks payable to: Our Lady Of Victory Church Building Fund.

Tax Deductible Gifts

All gifts are tax deductible as provided by law. Receipts will be provided at year end upon request.

If you are interested in a particular memorial naming opportunity you can contact Father Rudolph at (412) 278-0841. Keep in mind that requested memorials are based on availability.

An Honor Roll Listing will be on display acknowledging those who have donated to our important campaign. All those donating will be listed alphabetically regardless of contribution amount. If you do not wish to be listed, please advise us at the time of your donation.

Suggested Gift Plan For New Pledges

Success will be ours if every family will set aside, over the next thirty-six months, at least $2.30 a day or $69.00 a month. If, however, you are not able to do this, your pledge in any amount is encouraged and will be gratefully received.

The Suggested Gift Plan encourages financial commitments over a three-year period. The pledge card provides space for you to designate payment intervals: monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. Payment reminders will be sent in accordance with the schedule selected. We ask you to keep in mind that it will take gifts at these levels over 36 months to reach our goal. Pledges enable you to consider a more significant contribution to the campaign rather than a one-time gift.

If you are currently paying on a pledge from our original campaign, please indicate on this Pledge Card.

Campaign Prayer

Good and gracious God,

You have blessed us with men and women who founded this parish community with Christ as “the head and the cornerstone.”

We pray for hearts that are fresh with enthusiasm and energy so that we might be faithful to their legacy as we pave the way for the future.

Guide and help us during this time of material sacrifice and call to generous giving.

Inspire us to make choices that will benefit the Our Lady of Victory Parish Community,

so that rooted in our past and dedicated to our present,

we might be visionaries of the future.

We consecrate this campaign to Mary, the Mother of God.
May she intercede for our needs before her Son.

Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
